LAW 835: Comparative Tort Law

Bookmark and Share

This course will focus on similarities and differences between European and American tort law. It will cover both doctrinal issues concerning the scope and extent of liability (e.g., rules pertaining to proximate cause and damages), as well as broader issues concerning the role played by tort litigation in different legal systems. The goal of the course is to gain a deeper appreciation of the choices reflected in American tort law and to assess what we can learn about the possibilities for intelligent reform of that law. [2]
