LAW 895: International Intellectual Property

This course provides an introduction to the international law of intellectual property. Students will examine the sources of international intellectual property, the multilateral treaties administered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the World Trade Organization (WTO), as well as certain European Union Directives and Regulations. The course will also examine relevant policy issues in the area of international intellectual property, which may include: the nexus between intellectual property and human rights, the impact of intellectual property protection on economic development; the protection of traditional knowledge; and the impact of bilateral treaties and Section 301 of the Trade Act on multilateral norm-making processes.
