LAW 987: Law and Politics Seminar

This course is a workshop in which students from law and political science directly engage current research by prominent scholars in these two disciplines. Students will analyze ongoing research of prominent scholars, reading their current work and then responding to the scholars' presentation of the work to the class. The course is designed to: (1) facilitate cross-disciplinary dialogue between law and political science, (2) expose students from each discipline to the methodology of the other, (3) encourage students in law and political science to utilize the insights of both disciplines in their own research, (4) socialize students in the process of academic dialogue and constructive criticism on matters of current interest to active researchers, and (5) introduce Vanderbilt students to prominent scholars in law and political science from other elite institutions.
