LAW 833: Politics, Policies and Environmental RegulationThis short course is designed to help students understand that many important environmental policy choices fail to follow the neat prescriptions contained in environmental textbooks. The course will compare the theory and practice of environmental regulation and the White House-Environmental Protection Agency regulatory review process in particular. Students will examine how the complex mix of statutes, regulations, and executive orders affects how lawyers navigate in and among the various regulatory authorities. The course is intended to benefit students who plan to work with environmental decision-makers or in environmental agencies and to enable them to anticipate and develop strategies to influence environmental regulation. In addition, students will obtain a general understanding of several environmental statutes. [1 credit] |
