LAW 817: Regulation of Financial Institutions

This course surveys the law governing banks and related financial institutions. It provides an introduction to the business of banking and to the variety of financial services that may be provided by banks and their affiliates. Special emphasis is placed on the rich legal and political history of banking law as the foundation upon which future statutes, administrative actions, and judicial decisions will rest. This course does not cover the commercial law aspects of banking (e.g. matters pertaining to the Uniform Commercial Code). [2 credit hours]
