A Message from the Dean

Vanderbilt Law School is a special place. We are committed to scholarship and passionate about teaching. We demand intellectual rigor but do so in a welcoming environment. We embrace our rich traditions but constantly seek to innovate and improve. We celebrate individual achievement but place even more value on the accomplishments of the school as a whole.

Our alumni and friends are essential to the success of the Law School. We need your participation to inform us about current developments in law and legal practice, to suggest ways for us to improve the educational program for our students, to interview our applicants and hire our students, and to support us financially. In traveling from city to city, and trying to meet as many of our alumni and friends as possible, I have been repeatedly struck by the level of commitment and the deep reservoir of good will that exists toward the Law School. It is truly gratifying to know that we have already succeeded so well, and I believe that this success will serve as the basis for our further advances. The members of the Board of Advisors listed below are among our strongest supporters and most active participants. We appreciate their commitment to the Law School and the opportunity to work together toward continued success.

Dean and John Wade-Kent Syverud Professor of Law
