Class of 1993(Notes posted in the order they were received, with the newest posts on top.)\ Will Elkner and his wife Kayo welcomed David William Hiroto Elkner into the world on February 5, 2007. Will, Kayo and David live in Middleton, Wisconsin. Monica Ann (Toback) Krachman her husband, Dr. Brian Krachman and Myles (two and a half at the time), welcomed twins, Anna Lila and Lionel Isaac on November 6, 2006. It was a long year but Lily and Lyle are definitely worth all of it! Myles just adores his babies and when he is not defending his toys from their curious hands, he is busy reading everything that he can get his hands on. Monica is getting back to the practice of child custody and family law, on a limited basis, "knowing that [she is] needed much more in [her] children's lives than in the courtroom." That being said, Monica reports she still enjoys a good legal argument! Monica and family have also been involved in the founding of a new synagogue West Cobb County, Georgia, in the shadow of Kennesaw Mountain and Civil War Battlefields. Ed Boyle and his wife, Jennifer, proudly announce the birth of their second daughter, Sophie Elaine, born December 18, 2007. Sophie joins big sister, Connelly, who will be two years old in March. Jana McConnaughhay has opened her own firm, McConnaughhay Law Group, specializing in elder law. Jana was awarded 2007 Member of the Year by the Elder Law Section of the Florida Bar, and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Elder Law Section, the Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys, and the Office of the Public Guardian, on which she serves as chair. Jana lives with her husband, Chad Henry, and their son, Jack, and daughter, Davis, in Tallahassee, Florida. Ken David and Randy Faigin had their fourth child, Joey, on September 21, 2006. Ken opened his own law firm, David & Rosetti, on May 1, 2007, in Atlanta. The firm consists of six lawyers, focusing on representing employers and insurers in workers' comp cases. After several years as a corporate lawyer, Randy is now a certified fitness instructor and teaches at several locations in Atlanta. Jean Eliason was appointed by the Honorable U.W. Clemon, Chief Judge of the Northern District of Alabama, in 2003 to serve as the Claims Administrator for the Breast Implant Litigation settlements in Houston, Texas. As a result, Jean resigned her position as a partner in the law firm of Gentle Pickens Eliason & Turner. Jean and her husband welcomed their second child, Ashley, into the world on April 27, 2006. They also have a son, Jonathan, who is six. Jennifer Patton Grosvenor joined Legacy Trust Company in May of 2006 after having worked for JPMorgan Private Bank for a number of years. Legacy is a private trust company in Houston that is owned by the Cullen Family. Jennifer continues to manage trusts and foundations for wealthy families. She and her husband, Mike, welcomed their second daughter, Charlotte, in March of 2005. Jennifer and Mike also have a six year old daughter, Eleanor.
Elizabeth Bowles was recently featured in the "High Profile" section of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette because of her role as a member of the board of City Year Little Rock. Elizabeth is vice president and general counsel of Aristotle, Inc., and president of Aristotle.net, a company division. After graduating from VULS, she clerked for the late Richard Arnold, then chief judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and then spent six years in Washington, D.C., as a litigator for Arnold and Porter. She joined Aristotle, Inc., in 2000, and lives in Little Rock with her husband, Rafael Bravo. The couple is expecting their first child in August.
Nancy Vincent is of counsel to the corporate group of Baker Donelson Bearman Caldwell & Berkowitz in Nashville. Nancy's practice includes aviation, administrative and construction law as well as commercial litigation. She was vice president of legal affairs and government relations for the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority for several years before joining Baker Donelson. Nancy Baughan and her husband, Kevin Kastner, welcomed their first child, Luke Emerson Kastner, on December 5, 2005. The family lives in Atlanta, where Nancy is a partner at the law firm of Parker Hudson Rainer & Dobbs.
John Rose owns a working family farm that has operated in Smith and DeKalb counties since 1874. He is president of Smith Fork Ventures, Inc., an investment firm, and served under the Sundquist Administration as Tennessee’s Commissioner of Agriculture. Rose is vice chair of the Tennessee Future Farmers of America Foundation, Inc., and vice chair-elect of the Tennessee Tech Foundation’s board of directors. Monica Ann Krachman (Toback) and her husband, Dr. Brian S. Krachman, of Marietta, Georgia welcomed their first child, a son, Alexander "Myles" Krachman, on May 7, 2004. "The past year has been hectic and absolutely wonderful!" Monica writes. She has a boutique family law practice serving the metropolitan Atlanta area. Ari Bass has been appointed CEO of Pop3 Media Corp. Ari is expected to help Pop3 begin to create a diverse catalog of film, television, print and music properties. Pop3's headquarters will be moved from Mesa, Arizona, to the Los Angeles area, and it intends to begin producing film and television projects for sale to the satellite, cable, broadband and pay-per-view markets. Ari has worked extensively in entertainment sales and marketing as well as film production, writing, recording and as a professional musician with Mickey Gilley's Urban Cowboy Band. James Hassan is a partner in the Charlotte, North Carolina, office of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, practicing in the firm's global finance department, where he focuses on real estate finance, particularly representing institutional lenders. CDR Jeffery Hunt has reported as executive officer at the Navy's Trial Service Office Northeast in Washington, D.C. Commander Hunt will serve as the second in command of the TSONE, a military prosecutor's office which oversees military justice in 22 states. John Stanton has been named deputy chief of staff for U.S. Rep. Geoff Davis of the Fourth District in Northern Kentucky. John is widely regarded as a policy expert with a keen interest in education. Bryan L. Sutter was appointed Senior Counsel of Peabody Energy (NYSE: BTU) in St. Louis, Missouri. Brian will provide legal counsel for corporate and securities law, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate finance and commercial contracts. Prior to joining Peabody, he held several positions with Bunge North America, including Associate General Counsel and Assistant Secretary.
