Joe P. Binkley Jr., '69, appointed Davidson County Circuit Court Judge

Joe P. Binkley Jr., '69, has been appointed to the Davidson County Circuit Court, Division V.

Binkley's appointment was announced March 26 by Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen. He will fill the vacancy created by the retirement from the Circuit Court of Judge Walter C. Kurtz, '72. Kurtz will continue to serve as a Senior Judge on the Davidson County Circuit Court.

Binkley has practiced law in Nashville for 38 years and is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He has served on the board of directors of the Nashville Bar Association, which he joined in 1970, as well as on the Association's Domestic Relations and Fee Dispute committees.

"I am at a point in my career where I want to return something to the judicial system that has provided me with tremendous and rewarding challenges and purpose for my life," said Binkley. "This is a great honor. I appreciate Governor Bredesen's confidence in me and look forward to serving in this position."
