2009 summer stipend award winners announced

Thirty-five Vanderbilt law students have been awarded public interest stipends for work in the public sector during summer 2009. "These students are serving as interns in judicial chambers, U.S. Attorney's offices, government agencies, NGOs, non-profit legal aid organizations and federal public defenders offices," Dean Edward L. Rubin said. "These stipends, which are funded by Vanderbilt Law School and the Vanderbilt Legal Aid Society, provide an important means of support for the students who serve in these internships, and I want to thank everyone who has supported the Summer Stipend fundraising events this year."

Students awarded summer stipends include:

  • Donna Baldry – Judge Duane Benton, U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit, Kansas City, Missouri
  • Johanna Barde, Class of 2011 – Federal Public Defender's Office, Nashville
  • Sara Elizabeth Barker, Class of 2010 – Neighborhood Entrepreneur Law Project, New York, New York 
  • Thomas Barr, Class of 2011 – U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Delaware
  • Barbara Barreno, Class of 2011 – U.S. Department of State, Office of Global Women's Issues, Washington, D.C.
  • Tatiana Boza, Class of 2011 – Global Constitutional Justice Project, Utrecht, Netherlands
  • Robert W. Crump, Class of 2011– Kentucky Attorney General, Medicaid Fraud and Abuse, Frankfort, Kentucky
  • Erica Deray, Class of 2011 – Public Defender's Office, Miami, Florida
