Professor of Law

Ron Masulis is an expert in the law and finance of mergers and acquisitions. He has chaired Vanderbilt University’s Ph.D. program in finance since 1990, when he joined the faculty of the Owen Graduate School of Management as the Valere Blair Potter Professor of Management from the faculty of Southern Methodist University, where he had served as the James M. Collins Professor of Finance since 1986. He was named the Frank K. Houston Professor of Finance in 1993. Professor Masulis began his academic career in 1976 at the University of California Los Angeles, where he became a tenured associate professor of finance. Over the course of his academic career, Professor Masulis has been a visiting professor at the Goizueta School of Business at Emory University, the University of New South Wales, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Dartmouth College’s Tuck School of Business, the Norwegian School of Management in Oslo and the European Institute of Business Administration in Fontainebleau, France. In 2003, he was the recipient of Vanderbilt University’s Research Impact Award. He is currently associate editor of the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis and the Pacific Basin Finance Journal.
