Julie Sandine has served as Assistant Dean for Student Affairs at the Law School in July of 2002. Before starting the Student Affairs department at the law school, she taught legal writing a and was an associate with Dodson, Parker, Dinkins & Behm in Nashville, where she focused on probate, elder law, juvenile law, and research and writing in both trial and appellate courts. Her article about the case, “Tennessee’s Adoption Law: Balancing the Interests of the Adoption Triad,” was published in 39 Family Courts Review 1, 58 (2001). Dean Sandine has also worked with the ACLU as local counsel in appellate matters and continues to represent pro bono clients in both juvenile and probate court. From 1993 to 1995, she clerked for the Honorable Thomas A. Higgins, U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee. Before attending law school, Dean Sandine worked in the areas of women’s health and crisis intervention. Her experience includes serving as outreach coordinator for Rape Response in Winston-Salem, N.C., as a behavioral science researcher, and as Director of Counseling and then Executive Director of the Memphis Center for Reproductive Health.
