He was deputy director of the Council of Wage and Price Stability in the Carter administration. He has served on the Science Advisory Board of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for over a decade and is currently on the EPA Homeland Security Committee. Professor Viscusi is the founding editor of the Journal of Risk and Uncertainty, now housed at Vanderbilt. He is also the founding editor of a new journal, Foundations and Trends: Microeconomics.
