BiographyChris Brummer came to Vanderbilt in 2006 after practicing in the New York and London offices of Cravath, Swaine & Moore. His research focuses on how both private firms and states create transnational economic linkages to achieve certain outcomes, and how these linkages are then regulated and governed by other firms, governments, and international regulatory bodies. Professor Brummer has explored these issues in a variety of contexts, including securities regulation, international trade and international investment law. His writings have appeared in several leading journals including the University of Chicago Law Review, the Southern California Law Review, the Vanderbilt Law Review and the Chicago Journal of International Law. During the 2008-09 fall term, he will be on leave to serve as the Securities and Exchange Commission’s first Academic Fellow for the agency’s Office of International Affairs. Professor Brummer earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he graduated with honors, and he holds a Ph.D. in Germanic Studies from the University of Chicago. He is fluent in French and German.
