Law Library Access Policy

The mission of the Alyne Queener Massey Law Library is to serve the research needs of the Vanderbilt Law School faculty, students, and staff. While we welcome visitors Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., access during other times is restricted. After 6:00 p.m. and on weekends, access to the Law Library is limited to Law School faculty, students, staff, and other users who have received prior authorization to be here from Law Library Administration.


Evening and weekend access is available to:


  1. Vanderbilt Law School Alumni with a Vanderbilt Card
    • If you are a law school alumnus without a Vanderbilt Card, you must first contact the Vanderbilt Card Office in Room 184 Sarratt Student Center (322-2273) to obtain a card.
    • After receiving your card, contact Law Library Administration (322-2187) for building access authorization.
  2. Local Attorneys

 

All other users, including members of the Vanderbilt University community (faculty, staff, students, spouses, dependents, or university alumni) are welcome to use the Law Library during normal operating hours, but they do not have access to the law library in the evening or on the weekend.

Evening and weekend access is not available during the summer or any other time the Law Library is closed. Please refer to the library’s hours for more information.

The Law Library access card is not transferable and entitles the holder entrance
to the Law School buidling for Law Library Access only.

Schedule

The Law Library’s schedule varies throughout the year, and as the library is located within the law school building, access by members of the general public is generally limited to hours when the building is open to the public; 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the academic year; 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the summer and holidays. You may request access to the library during hours when the library is open, but the building is closed, by calling the Library’s administrative office at 322-2187.
