The Mock Trial Board administers the first- and second-year mock trial competitions. The winners of the second-year competition travel to a regional competition where they compete against teams from other law schools. Second-year students who excel at the second-year competition are eligible to become members of the Mock Trial Board.

The first- and second-year competitions provide students with an opportunity to gain experience with a wide variety of trial advocacy techniques, including analyzing a fact pattern for strengths and weaknesses, using the Federal Rules of Evidence to make and argue objections, and conducting mock trials, which include delivering opening and closing statements and questioning witnesses. In the-second year competition students also argue motions in limine. Students compete in teams of two.
