Street Law2008/2009 Officers
The Vanderbilt Street Law Program is a project of the Legal Aid Society. Street Law is a national initiative designed to provide citizens with information about the law to assist them in their daily lives. Vanderbilt Street Law Program participants reach out to the homeless community, domestic violence victims, women with a history of prostitution and drug addiction, and local high school students. Current partnerships are with the Campus for Human Development, the YWCA, Magdalene House, and Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools. There are several opportunities for involvement, including:
Upperclassmen have the possibility of earning one extracurricular credit for 55 hours of Street Law. Since its inception, our program has continued to gain momentum and support within the community. This year we hope to expand our efforts to include: a Pro Se Prisoners' Legal Writing Seminar and an Elder Law Workshop focusing on Medicare and legal issues pertinent to senior citizens. We encourage you to join us as we continue to serve others! Click here to visit the Legal Aid Society Website.
