Casual and Inexpensive Dining

Nashville lays claim to a southern original with a chicken.  Hattie B’s Hot Chicken is located a short walk up from the law school and serves up this new tradition in five heat levels complete with an array of soul food sides and local brews. Don’t let the line scare you away – it is worth the wait!

SATCO (San Antonio Taco Co.) is a local favorite for inexpensive Tex Mex lunch and dinner, with a great patio for outside dining.

Hog Heaven serves up Tennessee barbecue. Hog Heaven is next to Centennial Park and is a tiny operation, so be prepared to take your food home or sit outside on their picnic tables.

Caviar and Bananas is located directly across the street from the law school. It is a gourmet café with ample offerings for lunch. Try the Brussel Sprouts – they are amazing!  

Nada offers a great lunchtime special called the lunchbox (three tacos, a side, and a donut!). The elote corn side dish will have you coming back to this spot time and time again.

The Row will provide you with a traditional southern cuisine and in true Nashville style, often features live music.

Fido  blurs the line between coffeehouse and restaurant. There is a mix of food from organic to exotic, breakfast to dinner, and burgers to pancakes.


Finer Dining (mid-level pricing to expensive)

Cabana offers great people watching and a menu with a wide variety of food and prices. This is one of Nashville's trendier spots and is located in the Hillsboro Village neighborhood.

Midtown Café provides a bit fancier, intimate dining experience. It is located right down the street from VLS and offers something for everyone on their menu.

Tavern is located in the heart of Nashville's midtown, Tavern offers an innovative menu in a contemporary atmosphere, and serves lunch and dinner daily and brunch on the weekends.

Whiskey Kitchen features pub favorites, southern classics, and wood-fired pizzas. The atmosphere is laid back and cool with a large patio if weather permits.

The Ainsworth recently opened across the street from VLS and is essentially a higher-end sports bar. The atmosphere is chic and just reading the menu will make your mouth water!
