Blair Druhan Bullock, who earned her J.D. and Ph.D. in Law and Economics at Vanderbilt Law School in 2015, has joined the law faculty at the University of Arkansas as an assistant professor.
A labor and employment scholar, Bullock defended her dissertation, “Judicial and Agency Enforcement of Nondiscrimination Laws,” in March 2015. Her dissertation committee was led by Professor of Law and Economics Joni Hersch, who holds a Cornelius Vanderbilt Chair, and included University Distinguished Professor of Law, Economics and Management W. Kip Viscusi, who co-directs the Ph.D. in Law and Economics Program with Hersch; Kevin Stack, who holds a Lee S. and Charles A. Speir Chair in Law and serves as director of graduate studies for the Law and Economics Program; and employment law scholar Michael Selmi, Foundation Professor of Law at Arizona State University. During law school Bullock was executive editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review.
Before entering the legal academy, Bullock was a law clerk for Judge Stephen A. Higginson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and then worked in private practice representing national corporations in civil litigation, including labor and employment, state tax and contract disputes. While in private practice, she was a member of a pro bono trial team that secured the exoneration of a wrongfully convicted man who spent more than 14 years incarcerated in Florida.
Bullock was Tulane Law School’s Murphy Visiting Assistant Professor before joining the Arkansas Law faculty.
Bullock is the second Vanderbilt Law graduate to join the Arkansas Law faculty. Alex Nunn, who earned his J.D. at Vanderbilt in 2016 and his Ph.D. in law from Yale University, is an assistant professor focusing on evidence and proof. Nunn co-hosts the “Excited Utterance” podcast with Hess Professor of Law Ed Cheng.
