Students who take the pledge volunteer a minimum of 75 hours of pro bono legal work and community service work during their law school career.
Two members of the Class of 2022, Emily Burgess and Brooke Levy, were recognized for contributing more than 150 hours of service work during their law school careers.
“The pandemic was a particularly challenging time for students who wanted to volunteer to do pro bono legal work and community service,” Miller said. “These students did much of their work remotely, and they made important contributions to the organizations with which they volunteered. Their commitment to volunteer work helps keep a vibrant culture of service thriving here in our law school community that they will carry into their legal careers.”

Students may opt to take the Pro Bono Pledge during orientation as 1Ls or at any point during law school, Miller said.
