21 members of Class of 2013 selected for Order of the Coif

Angie Bergman one of 21 members of the Class of 2013 to be selected for the Order of the CoifProfessor Amanda Rose, secretary of the Vanderbilt Law School Chapter of Order of the Coif, has announced that 21 graduates of the Class of 2013 have been selected for membership in the Order of the Coif. Members of this prestigious organization are selected by faculty approval and represent the top 10 percent of the class.

New members from the Class of 2013 include:

Angela Lee Bergman of Brookfield, Wisconsin, who earned her B.A. at Northwestern University. Bergman, who was awarded the 2013 Founders Medal, is an associate at Bass Berry & Sims in Nashville.

Matthew Philip Chiarizio of Dallas, Texas, who holds an M.S. and B.S./B.A. in business decision and information sciences and a B.A. in history from the University of Florida. Chiarizio is clerking for Judge Leonard Davis of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas in Tyler, after which he plans to join Haynes and Boone in Dallas.

Gibeault Cooper Creson of Cordova, Tennessee, who earned his B.A. at Clemson University. Creson is an associate at Walker Tipps & Malone in Nashville.

Joshua Samuel Downer of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, who earned his B.A. at Harvard and an M.Sc. at the London School of Economics. Downer is clerking for Judge S. Hardy Mays of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee in Memphis, after which he plans to join Sullivan & Cromwell in Washington, D.C.

Adele Marie El-Khouri of Bethesda, Maryland, who earned her B.A. at Northwestern University. El-Khouri is clerking for Judge Stephen Higginson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in New Orleans, Louisiana, after which she plans to join WilmerHale in Washington, D.C.

Scott Jackson Farmer of Knoxville, Tennessee, who earned his B.S. at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Farmer is an associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in New York.

Robert Leslie Florance IV of Fort Worth, Texas, who earned his B.S. at Texas A&M University. Florance is an associate at Orgain Bell & Tucker in Beaumont, Texas.

Deanna Leigh Foster of Rolling Meadows, Illinois, who earned her B.S. at Illinois Wesleyan University. Foster is clerking for Judge Glen E. Conrad of the U.S. District Court for the Western Division of Virginia in Roanoke, after which she plans to join Ropes & Gray in Washington, D.C.

Justin Philip Gunter of Wiggins, Mississippi, who earned his B. A. at William Carey University. Gunter is clerking for Judge Emmett Ripley Cox of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in Mobile, Alabama, after which he plans to join Parker Hudson Rainer Dobbs in Atlanta.

Melissa Ann Hurter of Toney, Alabama, who earned her B.A. at Liberty University. Hurter is clerking for Judge Catharina Haynes on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in Dallas, Texas, after which she plans to join Baker Botts in Houston.

Andrea Brooke Jenkins of Nashville, Tennessee, who earned her B.A. at New York University. Jenkins has joined the staff of the Center for International Enterprise in Washington, D.C.

Matthew David Kusel of Raleigh, North Carolina, who earned his B.A. at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Kusel is an associate at Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy in New York.

Jinghui Lim of Singapore, who earned her B.S. at Duke University and received a J.D./Ph.D. in law and economics from Vanderbilt University. Lim is a fellow at the New York University Law School.

Taylor Mayly Owings of Sacramento, California, who earned her B.A, at Harvard University and an M.Sc. at the London School of Economics.Owings is clerking for Judge Douglas H. Ginsburg of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit during 2013-14, and for Judge Richard J. Leon of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia during 2015-16.

William Satterfield Pickens of Memphis, Tennessee, who earned his B.A. at Davidson College. Pickens is an associate at Sutherland Asbill & Brennan in Atlanta.

Erin Michelle Reimer of Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania, who earned her B.A. at the University of Virginia. Reimer is an associate at Dechert in Philadelphia.

Nathan Clay Sanders of Brentwood, Tennessee, who earned his B.A. at Vanderbilt University. Sanders is clerking for Judge Karen LeCraft Henderson on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia in Washington, D.C., after which he plans to join Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in New York.
