Carol Swain appointed to Tennessee Advisory Committee of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights

Carol Swain, professor of law and professor of political science at Vanderbilt University, will serve on the Tennessee Advisory Committee to the United States Commission on Civil Rights.

Professor Swain’s appointment was announced by Peter Minarik, Southern Regional Director for the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. Appointments to the commission are approved by Congress.

Since its inception in 1957, the United States Commission on Civil Rights, an independent agency of the U.S. government, has been at the forefront of efforts by the Federal Government and state governments to examine and resolve issues related to race, ethnicity, religion and, more recently, sexual orientation.
