Owen Jones and Rene Marois recieve $98,500 Discovery Grant for Law & Neuroscience project

Owen Jones and a colleague, Vanderbilt neuroscientist Rene Marois (Psychology Department), have been awarded a $98,500 Discovery Grant at Vanderbilt to expand their work on “The Neural Basis of Assessing Deserved Punishment.”  The grant will fund three experiments, each of which will use functional magnetic resonance imaging techniques to investigate a different dimension of how people ascribe legal liability. One purpose of the research is to identify brain regions and activity during decision-making relevant to criminal law.
