Rene Augustine ’90 appointed to President Trump’s legal staff

Rene Augustine ’90 has been appointed special assistant and senior associate counsel to President Donald Trump.

Augustine was an associate counsel to President George W. Bush and also served as a senior counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary during the Bush administration.

After graduating from Vanderbilt Law, Augustine was a law clerk for Judge John Hargrove of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland and then joined Covington & Burling. She has also taught on the adjunct faculty at George Mason University Law School.  She earned her bachelor’s degree from Duke University before earning her law degree at Vanderbilt.
