William H. Roach Jr. 72 named chairman of American Heart Association

William H. (Bill) Roach Jr. ’72, a retired partner with McDermott Will & Emery in Chicago, has been named chairman of the American Heart Association (AHA) for its 2011-12 fiscal year beginning July 1.

As chairman, Bill will be responsible for the overall administration of business affairs, public relations and fundraising and will preside over meetings of the board of directors and administrative cabinet.

Bill has been an active volunteer with the AHA since 2001 and chaired its Midwest Affiliate from 2009 to 2011. He is past chairman of the association’s Corporate Operations Coordinating Committee and a past member of its audit , international and research committees. He has also guided the AHA in governance and corporate affairs and has been a leading fundraiser for Chicago-area events.

Bill is the author of a legal textbook, Medical Records and the Law, which is now in its fourth edition.
