We'd like to meet you!
We would like to know you better as a prospective student - and for you to learn more about Vanderbilt. That's why we offer admission interviews with VLS alumni as part of the application process, and why VLS alumni conduct interviews nationwide and in several foreign locations.
Applicants to the J.D. class entering in fall 2023 may request an alumni interview by: 1) completing the admission interview section of the application for admission, and 2) submitting the application for admission no later than 11:59 PM, November 15, 2022.
Applications may be submitted from September 1 through April 30 each year. Applicants must have completed (or expect to have completed at the time of entry to the LL.M. program) a law degree outside the United States. All LL.M. students enroll at the beginning of the fall semester each year.
Students are expected to have a strong mathematics background commensurate with the standards of leading Ph.D. programs in economics. Students admitted to the program will either have a J.D. or will work on the requirements for both the Ph.D. and the J.D. concurrently.
If you will have a J.D. at the time of matriculation to the Ph.D. program, complete the Law and Economics application through the Vanderbilt Graduate School.
If you will not have a J.D. at the time of matriculation, you must complete both a Law and Economics application and a J.D. application.
Vanderbilt accepts Early Action transfer applications from February 15 to April 1.
The deadline for submitting Regular Decision transfer applications is July 1.
Visiting students should submit application in late spring for the fall semester, and late fall for the spring semester. Visitors should obtain a paper JD application by printing the pdf forms or contacting the Admissions Office to request paper forms.
