Vanderbilt Social Justice Reporter, in collaboration with the Thurgood Marshall Institute at the Legal Defense Fund, invites you to attend a two-part event focused on the legacy of voting rights in the South, its current state of affairs, and strategies for ensuring a full and unequivocal right to a fair vote for Black and Brown residents.

Community Conversation

Monday, April 1, 2024 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. CT
The National Museum of African American Music

The Community Conversation will convene local leaders, litigators, community organizers, and advocates to reflect on the legacy of voting rights in the South and ways to progress toward a multiracial democracy together. The keynote will feature 2018 MacArthur Fellow Rev. Dr. William Barber II in conversation with Legal Defense Fund President Janai Nelson. This event will be preceded by a voter registration drive in the Nashville area. Light fare will be provided for attendees.
