Eighteen members of the Class of 2022 have been selected to join the Order of the Coif. Vanderbilt’s new Order of the Coif members were announced by Amanda Rose, who holds a Cornelius Vanderbilt Chair and serves as president of the Vanderbilt Law School chapter of Order of the Coif.
The Order of the Coif is a national honorary society that recognizes the scholastic achievements of law school graduates. Members are selected by faculty approval and represent the top 10 percent of their graduating class.
New members representing the Vanderbilt Law Class of 2022 include:
Amy Lynn Baker Baddley of Bluffton, Indiana. Baddley is an associate focusing on data privacy and cybersecurity with Varnum in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was a John Wade Scholar. Baddley earned her undergraduate degree at Bethel University in Mishawaka, Indiana.
Aaron Lev Bernard of Birmingham, Michigan. Bernard is a law clerk for Judge Chad A. Readler of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in 2022-23 and will clerk for Judge Andrew S. Oldham of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in 2023-24. He was a Richard Nagareda Memorial Scholar and a Dean’s Scholar. Bernard earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Connor Joseph Breed of Vienna, Virginia. Breed is an associate with Cooley in Reston, Virginia. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia.
Emily Joellen Burgess of Kingsport, Tennessee. Burgess is serving as a clerk for Judge Travis McDonough ’97 of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee from 2022 to 2024. She was a Martha Craig Daughtrey Public Interest Scholar and a Justice-Moore Family Public Interest Scholar. Burgess earned her undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt University.
Peter Lawrence Byrne of Nashville, Tennessee. Byrne is serving as a law clerk for Judge Julius N. Richardson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in 2022-23 and will clerk for for Judge Benjamin J. Beaton of the U.S. Court for the Western District of Kentucky in 2023-24. He earned his undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt University.
Rachel E. Dalafave of Newtown, Pennsylvania. Dalafave is serving as a law clerk for Judge Jennifer Walker Elrod of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in 2022-23 and will clerk for Judge Justin R. Walker of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit in 2023-24. She also earned her Ph.D. in Law and Economics in 2022. Dalafave earned her undergraduate degree at The College of New Jersey.
Erin N. Embrey of New Albany, Indiana. Embrey has joined King & Spalding as an associate based in Chicago. She was a James G. Lewis Scholar and a Sara J. Finley Law and Business Scholar. Embrey earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Notre Dame.
Andrew D. Harris of Nashville, Tennessee. Harris is an associate with King & Spalding in Atlanta. He was a Dean’s Scholar. Harris earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Caylyn G. Harvey of Brentwood, Tennessee. Harvey joined Bass Berry & Sims in Nashville as an associate. She earned her undergraduate degree at Davidson College and holds an M.S. in commerce, marketing and management from the University of Virginia McIntire School of Commerce.
Cameron Kai Hood of Cape Coral, Florida. Hood joined Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York as an associate. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Florida.
Katherine Helen Monks of Midlothian, Virginia. Monks is serving as a law clerk for Judge David J. Novak of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia in Richmond in 2022-23 and then will clerk for Judge Kent Jordan of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in Wilmington, Delaware, in 2023-24. She earned her undergraduate degree at Washington & Lee University.
Lisa Orucevic of Maryville, Tennessee. Orucevic is an associate at Dentons Cohen & Grigsby in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was a Dean’s Scholar. Orucevic earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Alexandra Brooke Pearson of Orlando, Florida. Pearson is serving as a law clerk for Judge Paul G. Byron of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida from 2022 to 2024. She was a Dean’s Scholar. Pearson earned her undergraduate degree at Emory University.
Aaron M. Peterson of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Peterson is an associate with Jones Day in Minneapolis. He was a Dean’s Scholar and received the Judge Albert C. Hunt National Moot Court Team scholarship award. Peterson earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
Nicholas J. Prendergast of Portsmouth, Rhode Island. Prendergast is an associate with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in Washington D.C. He was a Dean’s Scholar and received the G&G Scholarship. Prendergast earned his undergraduate degree at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
Cole William Schott of Nashville, Tennessee. Schott is serving as a law clerk for Judge David J. Novak of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia in 2022-23 and then will clerk for Judge Julia Smith Gibbons of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in Memphis in 2023-24. He was a John Wade Scholar and received the Ucola Collier and Col. Arthur Frank Katzentine Scholarship. Schott earned his undergraduate degree at Washington & Lee University.
Meredith Rolfs Severtson of Saint Anthony, Minnesota. Severtson is serving as a law clerk for Judge Lance Africk of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana in 2022-23. She earned her undergraduate degree at Macalester College.
Bryan J. Teresi of San Diego, California, who received the Founder’s Medal for First Honors. Teresi was a Dean’s Scholar and received the Thomas R. McCoy Scholarship. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of San Diego.
