Thirty-eight Vanderbilt Law graduates secured judicial clerkships this year with judges on the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Eighth, Tenth, Eleventh and D.C. Circuits; with U.S. District Court judges in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and Washington, D.C.; on the state Supreme Courts of Indiana, Minnesota and Tennessee, and with judges on other federal and state courts. Thirty clerks are 2008 graduates; eight are alumni.
“A clerkship affords a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to gain practical insight into how the court system works,” Dean Ed Rubin said. “I’m pleased that so many graduates will benefit from a clerkship experience.”
“Once again, Vanderbilt has had an extremely successful year placing clerks throughout the country," Faculty Clerkship Advisor Michael Bressman added. "Each year, more and more judges are looking to Vanderbilt to hire their law clerks.”
The following members of the Class of 2008 secured clerkships this year:
Leah Bressack will clerk for the Honorable Thomas Griesa, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York in New York City in 2008-09, and for the Honorable Neil Gorsuch, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit in Denver, Colorado, in 2009-10.
Sam Choi will clerk for the Honorable Lawrence Stengel, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
