Anthony Bourached, an AI researcher at University College London, where he works on the Picasso Reconstruction Project, will give a talk, “AI & Art: Is Copyright Impeding the Creation of New Art?” in the Bennett Miller Room starting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24.
Bourached and colleague George Cann are using AI, or machine learning, to resurrect works of art hidden beneath subsequent works of art by such artists as Modigliani. The pair’s AI-rendered images-the first was made public in 2019-aim to give an idea of the lost painting’s original color and texture. Their work was reported on in June by the BBC.
Refreshments will be served.
