First of its kind, the National Museum of African American Music opens in Nashville

Vanderbilt to celebrate Black History Month with events throughout February
Vanderbilt University’s annual celebration of Black History Month—a time to acknowledge and appreciate the history, experience and accomplishments of Black people on the Vanderbilt campus, across the country and globally—will kick off on Monday, Feb. 1, with a virtual program coordinated by the Bishop Joseph Johnson Black Cultural Center. In order to mitigate the negative impact of bias, participants are introduced to tools and strategies to disrupt everyday bias and create situations to make decisions in a more conscious manner. Samiyyah Ali ’16 joins Biden White House team as deputy associate counsel
Ali will serve in the Office of the White House Counsel. She most recently served as a trial litigator at Wilkinson Stekloff in Washington. Before entering private practice, she was a law clerk for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, for Judge Sri Srinivasan of the D.C.
