Mark D. Schein

Biography

Mark Schein is chief operating officer and general counsel of Madison International Realty, a New York-based private equity firm that controls a large retail portfolio in the five boroughs. Before joining the executive management team at Madison, Professor Schein was senior vice president and global chief compliance officer at the investment firm Värde Partners. He joined Värde in 2020 after a 15-year stint with York Capital Management, where he was chief compliance officer. Before joining the executive staff at York, Schein spent three years at U.S. Trust Company and Schwab Capital Markets, where he served as director of broker-dealer compliance and of anti-money laundering, respectively. Early in his legal career, Schein worked for six years as an assistant district attorney in Bronx County and for five years as a trial counsel in the New York Stock Exchange’s Enforcement Division.
