Emily Plotkin is a seasoned labor and employment lawyer with a pragmatic business acumen developed through strategic partnership with clients, both as an outside counsel and in-house counsel at a Fortune 500 company. She began her legal career as a labor and employment attorney at Baker Donelson Bearman Caldwell & Berkowitz in Nashville. She left in May 2011 to move in-house as a senior counsel at Bridgestone Americas, Inc. While at Bridgestone, she represented each of the business units in resolving employment claims brought through the company’s Employee Dispute Resolution Plan. She also provided general employment advice and counsel and employment compliance support to the company’s commercial and consumer retail field operations, its non-union manufacturing facilities, and its distribution centers. Currently, in addition to her role as an Instructor in Law, Professor Plotkin manages her own law practice, Hunter Plotkin Law, which focuses on providing proactive employment compliance advice for local businesses and mediation services for all forms of civil disputes. As a law student, Professor Plotkin was a member of the Columbia Journal of Law and the Arts, where she served as an associate articles editor, and graduated as a Harlan Fisk Stone Scholar.
