R. Lawrence Van Horn

Lawrence Van Horn is a leading expert and researcher on health care management and economics. His current research focuses on nonprofit conduct, governance and objectives in healthcare markets, and the measurement of healthcare outcomes and productivity. Prior to joining Owen, Professor Van Horn served as associate professor of economics and management at the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business at the University of  Rochester, where he created and served as director of the Institute for Health Care Management. He has been honored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award Fellow.

Research Interests

Nonprofit conduct and objectives, agency relationships in health care markets, optimal physician contracting and behavior in response to at risk contracts, corporate governance in health care firms. managerial accounting in health care firms
