Paul Schnell is a New York-based partner in Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom, where his practice focuses on U.S. and international mergers and acquisitions. He is an internationally recognized lawyer in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, private equity, finance, corporate practice, corporate governance, health care and Latin America. Professor Schnell also advises companies on anti-takeover preparedness and shareholder activism. In recent years, he has been involved in more than 90 major publicly disclosed M&A and financing transactions, including 25 deals valued at more than $1 billion each. Professor Schnell's practice is global; he has been active in Latin America, Europe and Asia as well as the U.S. He has chaired the editorial board of The M&A Lawyer, a leading M&A publication, since its founding 12 years ago. Professor Schnell also writes and lectures frequently on mergers and acquisitions law, corporate governance, private equity and international finance, and has been a guest teacher for courses at Columbia Law School, Harvard Law School and University of Pennsylvania Law School, among others. At Vanderbilt, Professor Schnell is affiliated with the Law and Business Program and teaches International Mergers and Acquisitions.
