Robert D. (Bob) Tuke, ’76, told The Tennessean, Nashville’s daily paper, that he intends to compete in the Democratic primary for a chance to challenge the Senate seat of Republican U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander.
Tuke is a partner in the Nashville-based law firm of Trauger & Tuke, and a former chairman of the Tennessee Democratic Party. He is also a member of the adjunct faculty at Vanderbilt Law School, where he teaches Professional and Ethical Considerations of Corporate Practice.
Tuke plans to make a formal announcement of his candidacy this week. He joins three other candidates who have announced their intentions to compete in the Democratic primary.
Sen. Alexander has no Republican challenger in his bid for a second Senate term.
