D. Bruce Shine, Class of 1964, has been appointed chair of the Tennessee Supreme Court’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Commission.
The commission administers the procedures for taining and approving mediators for use by Tennessee courts pursuant to Supreme Court Rul 31, which established court-based alternative dispute resolution state-wide. The commission evaluates the success of Rule 31 alternative dispute resolution proceedings and suggests rules and revisions in rules for these proceedings. Eleven attorney-mediators, including Shine, currently serve on the commission.
Shine, who owns a private legal practice in Kingsport, Tennessee, is a Rulle 31 Listed Civil Mediator who has served on the commission since its inception in 1996. He is a member of the Tennessee Academy of Mediators and Arbitrators and of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals.
