Submit Your Information

Use the list below to set up your student information at Vanderbilt Law - from transcripts to student ID photos.

  • Submit Transcripts

Transcript showing conferral of undergraduate degree must be submitted to LSAC.

All entering VLS J.D. students must submit final transcripts showing conferral of an undergraduate degree to LSAC. If your current LSAC Credential Assembly Service (CAS) report does not include a transcript showing the date that your undergraduate degree was conferred, you must have your degree-granting college or university registrar send your final transcript directly to LSAC as soon as possible. If you are completing a degree in 2024, please ask the school for a final transcript that must show the date on which your degree was conferred.

    Nota Bene:

    • Graduate degree holders must also provide final graduate transcripts to LSAC.
    • Entering transfer students must also provide final first-year transcripts from their prior law school to LSAC.
  • Submit Digital Photo

Smile! Digital Photo Upload Due August 1

Please submit a digital photo of yourself that will be used for your Commodore Card (Vanderbilt I.D.), for class seating charts, and the law school's internal student directory. The image should follow these guidelines:

    Photo Requirements:

    • All photos need to be in color (no black & white photos)
    • Your entire head and shoulders must be visible
    • You must be facing forward looking directly into the camera
    • You must have a plain, light colored background
    • No other people or objects may be in the photo
    • You must not have anything touching your face such as hands, props or other distractions
    • You must not make any gestures or inappropriate facial expressions
    • You may not wear a hat or sunglasses
    • You may not wear jewelry or garments that obstruct the view of your face
    • This photo will also appear in YES and will be visible to your professors
    • Vanderbilt Card Services reserves the right to determine any photo as being inappropriate

You will be asked for your VUNet ID when you upload your image. If you have not already done so, you may claim your account here.

    Upload your digital photo here.

  • Commodore  Card - the Vanderbilt Student ID and Debit Card

The Commodore Card is more than your student ID; you can use your card to make cash-free purchases at on-campus and off-campus locations that accept the Commodore Card as a method of payment. You can purchase books at the campus bookstore, dine at campus eateries, or purchase a University parking permit by charging purchases to your student account with your Commodore Card.

To add Commodore Card charges to your student account, you must complete a Student Account Agreement online by August 1 which will also allow you to defer payment of fall semester charges pending financial aid payments (loans, grants, or scholarships) to your student account.

Instructions for completing a Student Account Agreement are here.

Complete information concerning Commodore Cards is available at the Commodore Card Office.

  • Set up VUNetID

After we receive your tuition deposit, you will receive an email from the University Registrar to claim your Vanderbilt student account for access to the Vanderbilt University network and get up and running at Vanderbilt. After establishing service, you can access your Vanderbilt email account over the Web and take advantage of other Vanderbilt Information Technology products and services including cellular service discounts.

Entering first-year J.D. students are provided access to the VLS intranet after July 1 (if you claim your Vanderbilt account after July 1, you will have access to the intranet one business day after activation). There you will find the law school academic calendar, schedules, internal announcements, directories, and other Law School resources and information as well as links to YES (Your Enrollment Services) for your class schedule, bill payment, and other enrollment services. You can access the intranet by selecting Student Resources under the Community Resources menu (must sign in with VUNet ID).

  • Parking Permits (Available in Aug)

Entering students may purchase university parking permits beginning the first week of August. The Traffic and Parking Office will send an email notification to Vanderbilt email addresses when parking permits become available for purchase.

Permits are purchased online. You will need the following information to purchase a permit:

    • VUnet ID and password
    • Vehicle license tag number
    • Vehicle make, model, color and year
    • Payment Information (student account, credit/debit card).

**The permit is effective as of date of purchase so you may park in your permitted area immediately.**

  • Immunization Requirement

After submitting your tuition deposit, you will receive an email from Student Health Services concerning Immunization Requirements for New Students including submission of the Graduate Immunization Requirements Form, which must first be completed by your health care provider, then uploaded to Student Health Services. No student can be registered until the requirement is fulfilled.

Complete information concerning student health is available at the Student Health Center Web site.

  • Required Student Health Insurance

Vanderbilt University requires all eligible students to be covered by a health insurance plan that is comparable to or exceeds the Student Injury and Sickness Insurance Plan offered through the University.

If you have other insurance and do not wish to participate in the Student Injury and Sickness Plan, you must complete an online waiver form indicating your other insurance information.
