Dean Chris Guthrie announced that Cristina Gapasin Tortal has been named the next Dean of Admissions for Vanderbilt Law School. Tortal assumes the role from Todd Morton, who is retiring this summer.
“Cristina is a leading figure in the law school admissions world and well known to our staff,” said Dean Guthrie. “I am thrilled that she has agreed to join us.”
A lawyer by training, Gapasin Tortal has more than 20 years of experience in law school admissions. She comes to Vanderbilt after serving for six years as the Dean of Admissions at the UC Irvine School of Law. Prior to that, she served for six years as the Director of Admissions at Northwestern Law. She has held several positions on the Law School Admissions Council (LSAC) and currently sits on the LSAC School’s and Candidates Committee.
“I am honored and excited to join a school that I’ve held in high regard throughout my career,” said Gapasin Tortal. “My goal is to build upon Todd’s significant legacy and make my own meaningful contributions to the continued success of Vanderbilt Law.”
