Over this past week, Veterans’ Day offered us a reminder of the immense sacrifice, courage, and impact of our Vanderbilt Law Veterans. We are deeply privileged to be home to an extraordinary community of students and alumni who have served in our country’s armed forces and whose example of leadership, character, and commitment enriches our school every day.
This group of past and present students, coming from many different walks of life and bringing valued professional and personal experiences, showcase a common dedication to service, integrity, and community. We feel profoundly fortunate to serve them as they look forward to serving the country, helping ensure that the educational mission of our school can benefit our nation in tangible ways.
As part of our commitment to our Veterans, we recognize the singular importance of providing a sense of fullest community, tailored resources, and mentorship, designed to support our students in navigating the unique opportunities and challenges of being a Veteran. Our Law Students for Veterans Affairs represents a pillar of connection and fellowship for our Veterans, led by Professor Mike Newton, whose own tireless example of service and excellence provides an example to us all.
On this Veterans’ Day, we gratefully celebrate our Veterans, present and past, those around the country, and their families and communities for embodying ideals of selflessness and service. It is our privilege to be a part of their journey.
