Combine a study in law with a study in management with the Vanderbilt J.D./M.B.A.
By combining study in management with study in law, a student can earn both the J.D. and the M.B.A. in a total of 4 years (8 semesters), instead of the 5 years normally required to complete the 2 degrees.
Students enroll for their first year of study in the dual-degree program on a full-time basis in either the Law School or the Owen School. Students should begin their dual-degree studies in the Law School and then attend the Owen School in their second year.
The Owen School requires 62 hours for graduation and the Law School requires 88 hours. The Law School will grant transfer credit for 12 hours of course work taken at the Owen School; similarly, the Owen School will grant transfer credit toward the management degree for 12 hours of Law School course work.
Dual degree applicants complete both the J.D. application and the M.B.A. application. Vanderbilt’s dual degree partners have their own admission and application policies, procedures, and deadlines that may differ from those of the Vanderbilt J.D. program.

"I was confident that coupling the Law School’s analytical focus with the Owen’s quantitative emphasis would make me a very competitive applicant for coveted positions.”
“I was able to get hands-on experience in both business and law environments without disrupting the Law School recruiting cycle."
“I’m focusing on finance and strategy, but I’m also getting exposure to leadership development skills. I think I’ll be more well-rounded with both degrees.”
