Kevin H. Sharp, Class of 1993, has been nominated to a seat on the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee.
His nomination was announced by President Barack Obama on Wednesday, November 17.

Sharp is a founding partner of Drescher & Sharp in Nashville, Tennessee, where his practice focuses on employment law, employee benefits law and federal litigation. Before co-founding Drescher & Sharp in 2003, he was a partner with Stokes Bartholomew Evans & Petree in Nashville, where he was a member of the firm’s litigation section and co-chair of its employment law practice. Sharp joined Stokes Bartholomew as an associate in 1993. During 1996-97, he served as an attorney in the Office of Compliance of the U.S. Congress, where his responsibilities included public accommodation provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Occupational Safety & Health and Labor-Management Relations investigations and enforcement. After rejoining Stokes Bartholomew in 1997, Sharp was named a partner in the firm in 2001.
Sharp graduated first in his class with a B.S. in business administration from Christian Brothers College in 1990 before earning his law degree at Vanderbilt in 1993. At Vanderbilt, he was the Weldon B. White Scholar and received the Appellate Advocacy Award as well as serving as Associate Problem Editor for the Vanderbilt Moot Court Board and as a research assistant to Professor Barry Friedman on issues of constitutional law and habeas corpus.
Before entering college, Sharp served as a Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy, based in Barbers Point, Hawaii, from 1982-86.
Sharp was named a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation in 2010; he has been a Fellow of the Nashville Bar Foundation since 2003. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association and the Nashville Bar Association, and serves on the ABA’s Employment Rights & Responsibilities, Equal Employment Opportunities and Ethics and Professional Responsibility committees. He was a member of the Tennessee Bar Association Leadership Law Class of 2005.
He lives in Nashville with his wife and their daughter.
