Law and Economics student Jacob Byl accepts a judicial clerkship

Jacob BylJacob Byl, a six-year student and Ph.D. candidate in the Ph.D. Program in Law and Economics at Vanderbilt, has accepted a judicial clerkship with Judge Jane Stranch in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, to be Fall 2016.

Byl earned a B.A. in economics and international studies from Northwestern University in 2005. Before coming to Vanderbilt, Mr. Byl co-founded an education nonprofit in Chicago and studied economics at the University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Byl is a Vanderbilt Law & Economics Scholar and served on the staff of the Environmental Law and Policy Annual Review in 2011-2012 and was the development editor for ELPAR in 2012-2013. He was an associate editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review in 2012-2013. His fields of interest are risk and environmental regulation and labor markets and human resources. In addition to his clerkship with Judge Stranch, Mr. Byl accepted a judicial clerkship with Judge Robert J. Jonker in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan, to begin Fall 2015.
