Mary Katherine (Kit) Dimke, Class of 2002, was confirmed to a seat on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington by the U.S. Senate on Dec. 17.
Dimke had served as a magistrate judge for the Eastern District of Washington in Yakima since 2016. Before her appointment as an administrative judge, she was an assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Washington in Yakima from 2012 to 2016 and an assistant U.S. attorney for the Western District of Washington in Seattle from 2008 to 2012.
Dimke has spent her entire career in government service. She was selected for the Order of the Coif after earning her law degree at Vanderbilt in 2002 and then served a law clerk for Judges Richard C. Tallman of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit from 2003-04 and Alan B. Johnson of the U.S. District Court for the District of Wyoming from 2002-03. She was an Honors Program trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., from 2004 to 2007.
She earned her undergraduate degree in political science magna cum laude from Pepperdine University. She is a native of Clarkston, Washington.
