Megan Blair Benton ‘10 Named Judge for United States District Court for Western District of Missouri

Megan Blair Benton ’10 has been commissioned to a seat on the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri. Judge Benton assumes the seat from Judge M. Douglas Harpool.

Judge Benton most recently served as a judge in the Sixth Judicial District of Missouri, which covers Platte County, first as Associate Circuit Judge (2021-2023) and later as a Circuit Judge (2023-2026).

Born in Columbia, Missouri in 1985, Judge Benton studied at Lincoln University before earning a B.A. and M.A. in political science from Emory University in 2007. She earned her J.D. from Vanderbilt Law School in 2010. After law school, she clerked for Judges Ralph W. Dau and Barbara M. Scheper at the Los Angeles County Superior Court before joining The Kuhlman Law Firm. Judge Benton went on to serve as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in the Platte County Prosecutor’s Office.
