Melody Hurdle Eagan, a partner with Lightfoot Franklin & White in Birmingham, Alabama, has been elected president of the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association (ADLA) for 2012-13. She had previously served as a director and officer for ADLA, as chair and on the faculty of the ADLA's Trial Academy, on the faculty of the ADLA Deposition Boot Camp, and on the board of directors for the ADLA's Young Lawyers Section.
Eagan's practice focuses on product liability and personal injury litigation. She serves as regional counsel for a number of product manufacturing clients.
Eagan is also a member of the Defense Research Institute (DRI), and she is the current Alabama State Liaison on the DRI Women in Law Committee. She is a member of the Birmingham Bar Association and has served for many years on its Public Service Committee.
She joined Lightfoot Franklin & White after graduating Order of the Coif from Vanderbilt Law School in 1994. She earned her undergraduate degree summa cum laude at Hendrix College.
ADLA has a membership of more than 1,000 attorneys who are dedicated to the defense of civil actions and the promotion of fairness and integrity in the civil justice system.
