🇺🇸 Honoring Our Veterans 🇺🇸

We are proud to honor our Veterans across the country and here at VLS.

We are deeply grateful for their service and sacrifice – and that of their families and communities. As we educate about the laws that govern our country, we celebrate those that put themselves in harm’s way to protect this democracy, its people, and institutions as well as others around the world. At VLS, we are privileged to be home to a truly dedicated, decent and exceptionally inspiring community of Veterans.

As much as they come to gain a legal education at VLS, our community is fortunate to gain so richly from their perspectives, experiences, ideas and character.

Importantly, we are committed to honoring our VLS veterans through action and in providing a supportive school community that seeks to respect and uplift those that have served. Many of our veterans have deployed to some of the most dangerous parts of the world. With the honor of public service, can often also come the silent suffering arising out of trauma, violence, loss and grief. At VLS, we are fully resolved to recognize the singular importance of physical and mental health as a critical part of school life and to offer resources that can better ensure that nobody feels left behind in managing the challenges that can follow service. As a community of lawyers, we are motivated by opportunities to assist veterans across the country to gain fullest access to their rights and entitlements.

Our student organization – Law Students for Veterans Affairs – exemplifies community, kindness and mutual understanding among those that have served.

Veterans’ Day represents a time to celebrate our veterans, to honor their service and ideals. It is also a reminder to us all to ensure that those that have stood to protect us are also protected as they take their journey through law school and to their future careers.
