Bob Tuke, ’76, wins Tennessee Democratic Senatorial primary

Former Tennessee Democratic Party Chairman Bob Tuke won Tennessee’s U.S. Senate primary August 7, and will challenge Republican Sen. Lamar Alexander this fall. 

Tuke is a Nashville attorney and former Marine officer who fought in the Vietnam war, and a member of Vanderbilt’s adjunct law faculty, teaching "Professional and Ethical Considerations in Corporate Law Practice." After his graduation from Vanderbilt Law School in 1976, he was named to the Order of the Coif. He was editor-in-chief of the Vanderbilt Law Review during his tenure at Vanderbilt Law School.

Tuke is currently a partner in Trauger & Tuke in Nashville.

Alexander ran unopposed in the GOP primary. The Senate primary was the only statewide race on the ballot.
