Matt Leggett ’07 named chief counsel of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works

Matt Leggett ’07 has been named chief counsel of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW). His appointment was announced by Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY), who chairs EPW.

Leggett has served as the committee’s deputy chief counsel since January. Before that, he served as policy counsel for the Senate Republican Policy Committee for Sen. Barrasso.

Leggett began his legal career at Williams Mullen in Washington, D.C., where he practiced corporate and international trade law. In 2010, he joined the staff of Congressman Tim Murphy of the 18th District of Pennsylvania, where he worked on energy and commerce issues. He has worked as a legislative aide for the House Committee on Agriculture and for a senior U.S. senator. He was named policy counsel for the Senate Republican Policy Committee in 2012.
