Owen Jones delivers Darwin Day keynote address on “The Next Evolution: From Behavior to Law and Back”

Owen Jones delivered the 10th Anniversary "Darwin Day" keynote address, "The Next Evolution: From Behavior to Law and Back," at the University of Evansville in Evansville, Indiana, on February 22.

The lecture, sponsored by the Biology Department, commemorates the continuing relevance of Charles Darwin’s work to modern biology. Professor Jones’ talk drew connections between Darwin’s work, human behavioral biology, and law.

Professor Jones, who sits on the faculties of the Law School and the Department of Biology at Vanderbilt, is currently working on a variety of empirical projects using insights of behavioral biology to gain deeper understandings of behaviors relevant to law.

He is a Director and former President of the Society for Evolutionary Analysis in Law (SEAL)—an international interdisciplinary scholarly organization, whose members focus on issues at the intersection of law, biology, and behavior.
