
Joel Dodge is the Director of Industrial Policy & Economic Security at the Vanderbilt Policy Accelerator. His writing on public policy issues has appeared in numerous outlets, including The Atlantic, the Washington Monthly, Heatmap News, and more. He has also served as a legal and policy advisor to candidates for public office, including President Biden’s 2020 campaign, Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, and Kathryn Garcia’s 2021 campaign for New York City mayor. As an attorney, he helped develop an influential defense of the Affordable Care Act at the U.S. Supreme Court in King v. Burwell, and was part of the legal team defending Roe v. Wade in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health. He previously practiced as a constitutional lawyer, taught constitutional law, and served as a chapter president of the American Constitution Society for Law & Policy.
